Otto Addo requests for additional staff after meeting Executive Council – Reports

Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo has requested for additional backroom staff following his meeting with the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The 47-year-old trainer met the leadership of the Football Association for a technical report review following Gana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

According to sources, the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach explained his decision why he failed to steer the side to secure a spot in the tournament.

However, he also made a plea for additional backroom staff ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers which resumes in March 2025 with games against Chad and Madagascar.

Otto Addo is currently being assisted by John Paintsil, Joseph Laumann and Fatawu Dauda.

Ghana failed to win a game in the qualifiers and missed out on qualifying to next year’s AFCON which is the first for Ghana in 20 years.

The team finished at the bottom of Group F with three points after failing to record a win after six games.

Meanwhile, Otto Addo is undecided by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) but widespread reports have suggested that he is expected to keep his job despite the AFCON qualification failure.
