Otto Addo Calls for Calm as Black Stars Target World Cup Spot

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has called for calm and focus as Ghana prepares for the next phase of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The national team have regroup in Accra with several players already arriving in Ghana ahead of training camp.

Speaking ahead of the qualifiers, Addo stressed the need to avoid complacency despite the excitement surrounding Ghana’s chances.

“We are in a good situation and I hope that we can do everything to qualify. We have to take it step by step, we can’t make a mistake. A lot of people are talking about the World Cup already, but it’s still a long way,” he said.

 

Ghana will next face Chad on Matchday 7 before taking on Mali on Matchday 8 between September 1–9, 2025. Addo emphasised that the immediate focus is on the Chad fixture.

“The next is the focus on the Chad game and I hope that we can win,” he added.

The Black Stars currently sit well-placed in their qualifying group, and with training set to begin on September 1.
