Opinion: Why I voted for KON
Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah as the Information Minister in the last 3years contributed immensely to help the NPP government stand the test of time in the following multifaceted ways:
1. The Press briefings introduced under his stewardship which created the avenue for the various government ministries to explain govt policies and programmes to the citizenry helped immensely in understanding some of the govt initiatives bearing as the three core components of good governance. (Transparency, Accountability and Reciprocity)
2. KON’s coherent and precise press briefings relative to the COVID-19 pandemic also helped to allay public fears and brought a palpable sigh of relief to Ghanaians that there is a glimmer of hope to nip the virus in the bud…..and it is against this backdrop that the international media( Washington Post, BBC, CNN, Aljazeera et al) including the World Health Organization touted Ghana as one of the best countries working around the clock to overcome the virus.
3. Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah’s lyrical dexterity and debating prowess on issues in our political discourse, predominantly on Ghana’s economy that commingles with his fact and figures makes him a force to reckoned with and always ahead of his contemporaries. No wonder ndc’s economic top notch, Isaac Adongo, averred that “Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah is a rising star in the NPP” during an interview with Bola Ray on Star fm in 2018.
4. KON’s civility, decorousness coupled with other good dispositions as an information minister in the last 3years makes him outstanding and being loved across the political divide which has now earned him the accolade “An epitome of modern-day communication”.
There’s no doubt that KON is a good communicator. He has a bright future ahead only if he stops being arrogant and showing crass attitude.
If a question is asked and you don’t have the answer, just say so. I think our appreciation and respect for him sometimes gets into his head. Someone must advise him before he loses it
