One In Critical Condition as Students and Residents of Sokoban Clash

Over 20 students from the Obuasi Senior High Technical School are currently in police custody for attacking residents of Sokoban in the Ashanti Region.

It is reported that a bus carrying the students from the Baba Yara sports stadium was hit by an object, breaking the side glass window.

The students alleged that the unknown culprit was a resident of Sokoban which led to an ambush on some innocent residents in the town.

Two people were allegedly attacked; a bus conductor and a hawker at where the incident happened.

A mother of one of the arrested students in narrating what transpired between the students and the residents said, “I saw them got out of their bus and started attacking. They pulled objects and everybody was running helter-skelter. I saw them pounced on my son with blood oozing all over his body”.

According to the woman and other relatives of the arrested students, they will never move from the Ampabame No1 Police station until the police release their children.

“I am not leaving here until I hear my nephew is alive”, an aged man whose nephew was arrested sadly noted.

To prevent further casualties in the Sokoban and Ampabame communities, the police have intensified their operations in the communities to ensure the smooth passage of students who are returning from the annual Inter-Schools athletes competition being held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
