One dead, several others injured in gory crash involving footballers
One person has died, and 62 others are in critical condition following an accident involving the Monack Football Club on the Kwahu mountains’ Atibie road in the Eastern Region.
The victims were traveling in a bus with registration number GE 7652-15 when the incident occurred around 4:00 am on Saturday.
The injured are currently receiving treatment at Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital and Kenop Care Hospital.
The Nkawkaw Municipal Fire Commander, DO II Samuel Mante, confirmed the incident, stating that Monack FC had participated in a tournament at Obo and was on their way home when the accident happened.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, drivers who assisted in rescuing the victims praised the Fire Service for their prompt response.
They further urged the government to install streetlights on the Nkawkaw-Mpraeso road to reduce accidents.
