One dead, others injured in gory accident at Offinso

A DAF Cargo Truck with registration number GT-7459-U has collided with a motorcycle at Offinso-Adukro in the Ashanti Region killing one person on the spot and injuring many others. 

The deceased, who is yet to be identified was reportedly decapitated in the collision.

The injured persons have been rushed to the Offinso-Maase Hospital and are receiving treatment.

The fatal accident occurred on the evening of Thursday, November 17, 2023.

An eyewitness, Mr Daniel Offei said the two accident victims who were on a motorbike tried to overtake the truck but ended up colliding with the cargo truck.

“The two together with their motorbike were trapped under the truck after the collision, it took residents in the area to help rescue them, but one had already lost his head due to the heavy clash “.

The other who was gasping for breath was immediately sent to hospital for medical attention.

Road accidents have become rampant in recent times.

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, a Kia Rhino truck crashed into the Suame Divisional Police Headquarters building in the Ashanti Region killing one person on the spot and leaving one baby critically injured.

The victim, yet to be identified, is said to be a woman in his mid-40s who reportedly lost her two legs in the fatal accident and was pronounced dead at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Also on November 16, 2023, a woman believed to be in her late 40s was killed by a hit-and-run driver at Flat Top near Lapaz in Accra.

Information gathered indicated that the victim failed to use the footbridge nearby and attempted to cross the main road to the other side.

While attempting to cross, she was knocked down by the speeding sprinter bus, resulting in the severing of her leg.

Unfortunately, she died on the spot.

On November 12, 2023, four people died, and 12 others were found in critical condition in an accident at Akyem Koforidua in the Manso Akroso District of the Eastern Region.

The head-on collision involved a Pontiac Vibe with registration number GG 3528-14 and a Toyota Hiace with registration number GM 3150-13.

Also on September 30, 2023, at least 20 people perished when a Grandbird bus and a Toyota mini-bus collided head-on along the eastern corridor road between Peki-Adzokoe and Tsibu last Wednesday.

The Grandbird bus was traveling from Accra to Chinderi in the Oti Region, while the Toyota mini-bus was traveling from Hohoe to Accra.

Again, on September 28, 2023, an accident involving four vehicles at Gomoa Potsin on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway in the Central Region resulted in the injuring of two drivers severely.

The vehicles involved were a Toyota Hiace loaded with pineapple with the registration number GN 9868-11, a Kia Rhino loaded with tyres and wheelbarrows with the registration number GN 3408-21, a Toyota Corolla with registration number GR7892-14 and a Nissan Patrol GN 9275-17, which were heading Kasoa.
