One dead, multiple injured in violent clash at Nkonsia

A violent clash between youth from Wenchi Zongo and Nkonsia in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region has resulted in the death of one person.

The melee led to several other injuries and the destruction of five motorbikes.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

Three victims were taken to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital’s Emergency and Accident Unit around 5:30 AM, where 21-year-old Alhassan Mohammed succumbed to his injuries.

Another victim was treated and discharged, while 22-year-old Ayuuba Adamu remains hospitalized and is responding to treatment.

According to Ayuuba Adamu, the clash occurred when a suspect attempted to snatch a phone at a gathering in Nkonsia, leading to a confrontation.

Alhassan Mohammed was fatally stabbed, and another person was injured trying to save him.

In the ensuing chaos, the Nkonsia youth set fire to five motorbikes belonging to the suspects.

The incident has been reported to the Wenchi police to carry out further investigations.

No official comment has been made by the police at this time.
