One dead in police anti-robbery operation at Pigfarm

One lady has been confirmed dead after she was shot in an anti-robbery operation conducted at Pigfarm, a suburb of Accra.

According to the police, the operation, which has been going on for some time, is targeted at arresting a criminal gang linked to several robberies in Accra in the past months.

On Saturday, December 16, 2023, police arrested two of the gang members.

“Unfortunately, however, during the Saturday morning operation, a stray bullet accidentally hit a lady. She was taken to the hospital, but sadly, she was pronounced dead on arrival,” the police explained in a statement.

The law enforcement agency added that the operation was still ongoing to get the remaining gang members arrested.

Meanwhile, the body has been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Senior police officers have also visited the bereaved family with the assurance that they “will continue to support them through these difficult times”.

“Once again, we wish to express our sincerest and deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” the police added.
