One dead in Agona Mankrong fire
A tragic fire incident at Agona Mankrong in the Central Region has claimed one life, despite the quick response of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) from the Agona Nsaba Fire Station.
According to an official statement posted on the GNFS Facebook page, firefighters responded promptly to a distress call about a fire at a residential property in Agona Mankrong.
The crew arrived at the scene around 11:34 a.m. to find one of the eight rooms in the building completely engulfed in flames.
Members of the public had already made efforts to contain the fire before the arrival of the firefighters.
The GNFS team successfully extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the structure.
While seven rooms were saved, one room and its contents were destroyed.
Unfortunately, one person lost their life in the incident.
The GNFS said investigations are ongoing and that more details will be shared once inquiries are complete.
The Service also commended the public for their early intervention and emphasised the importance of fire safety awareness and prompt reporting of emergencies to help minimise losses and save lives.
