One person has died, while another sustained critical injuries in an accident at Gomoa Otsew on the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway in the Central Region.
The incident occurred after a Toyota Coaster bus carrying 22 members of the Church of Pentecost collided with a man Man Diesel truck.
According to ACFO Adolf Ankomah Nuamah, the Apam District Fire Commander, the driver of the truck, who was headed to Accra from Ivory Coast, said a car cut into his lane after a reckless overtaking at Gomoa Otsew.
To avoid colliding with the recklessly driven car, the truck driver swerved into the lane of an oncoming Nissan Navara.
In an attempt to swerve the Nissan, he veered off the road into the nearby bush.
However, the bus, which was carrying the Church of Pentecost members en route from Accra to Tarkwa, hit the truck’s rear.
“One person from the bus was run over. There were twenty-two people on the Coastal bus, but one died, and one was seriously injured. They were taken to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment,” ACFO Nuamah said.
He added that significant damages have been done to all affected vehicles.
