Tension has gripped the community of Sankor in Winneba, Central Region, after a violent clash between two youth groups left one person dead and several others injured.
The cause of the confrontation remains unknown, but disturbing videos circulating on social media show members of the groups attacking one another with machetes.
Confirming the incident, the Winneba Divisional Police Commander, ACP Ibrahim Opoku, said several people sustained injuries during the clash, which occurred on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Following a review of the footage, police have arrested a number of suspects in connection with the violence.
Meanwhile, one victim, identified as Excoba, is reported to have died after suffering multiple machete and gunshot wounds.
Police say security patrols have been intensified in the area, and calm has since been restored.
