Okada rider jailed 15 years for robbing nurse
The Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court has sentenced 32-year-old Okada rider, Yussif Salifu, to 15 years in prison for robbing a nurse at Millennium City in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
Presiding over the case, His Lordship Isaac Ohenaba-Kuffour heard that Salifu, a repeat offender, had resumed work as an Okada rider in Millennium City following his release from prison.
On the evening of January 10, 2025, at around 7:30 p.m., Salifu attacked the nurse as she waited at a bus stop.
He forcefully snatched her bag and mobile phone.
When the victim resisted, Salifu assaulted her before fleeing with the stolen items.
Her cries for help drew the attention of bystanders who apprehended Salifu and handed him over to the police.
In court, Salifu pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and assault.
Given his criminal history and the severity of the crime, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
