A 21-year-old okada rider has been decapitated by an unidentified attacker at Gomoa Mfantse-Moa in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region.
According to reports, the attacker requested the services of the okada rider to convey him to a nearby village.
But the attacker allegedly killed the rider, removed his head, and ran away when they got to a remote area of the destination.
After the horrifying event, irate youth from the neighbourhood launched an attack on the newly opened Gomoa Obuasi Police Station and vandalised the properties, including a police land cruiser and other officers’ vehicles.
Confirming the incident, the assemblyman of the Gomoa Afranse-Ofaso Electoral Area, Ibrahim Obeng, disclosed that false information that the suspect had been taken into custody by the police influenced the attack on the police station.
Mr. Obeng admonished okada riders to be cautious and run background checks on passengers before rendering their services to them.
To help catch the criminals, police are looking into the matter and have asked the public to remain calm while reporting any suspicious activity.
