The trial of the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, and a Communications Officer of the NDC, Anthony Kwaku Boahen, is scheduled to begin on December 18.
The two are being tried over the infamous leaked audio tape.
Mr Ofosu Ampofo is standing trial for conspiracy to assault a public officer and conspiracy to cause harm after he was secretly recorded allegedly outlining plans to cause mayhem.
Chairman of the largest opposition party, Mr Ofosu Ampofo is allegedly heard inciting party communicators to assault public officials and plotting to harm some other civilians.
Some of the tactics he’s alleged to have outlined include the creation of a general state of insecurity in the country through kidnappings and arson, verbal attacks on public officials like the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Prof. Emmanuel Asante, as well as Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah.
Mr Ampofo has however denied the claims.
Breach of privacy
Lawyers for the embattled National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo argue the audio recording of their client is a breach of his privacy.
The lawyers led by Tony Lithur filed an application asking an Accra High Court to stop the state from presenting a leaked audio recording as evidence of his client’s alleged crime.
Meanwhile, Mr Ofosu Ampofo says he will soon expose those seeking his downfall.
According to him, he will bounce back stronger as he has learnt useful lessons with his ongoing prosecution.
