Obuasi: Catholic Voices GH choral peace concert unites NPP, NDC
It was a heartwarming sight at the Old Magistrate Court in Wawase, Obuasi East District, as leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) joined other stakeholders for a peace concert.
Members of the two major political parties were seen dancing together to choral and patriotic songs—an unusual and uplifting scene as the 2024 general elections approach.
The event, organised by Catholic Voices GH, was attended by representatives from the Ghana Police Service, civil society organizations, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), clergy, media, and the general public. Their presence highlighted a shared commitment to creating a peaceful and secure environment as the elections draw near.
The concert, titled “Ghana Asomdwoe”, served as a call for unity and tranquility before, during, and after the elections scheduled for December 7 of this year.
Catholic Voices GH and their guest choir, Dom Peace Chorale, delivered captivating performances that inspired a sense of patriotism among attendees. The music resonated deeply with the audience, reinforcing the importance of unity and collective responsibility in fostering peace.
Mr. Joseph Owusu-Addo, Executive Director of Catholic Voices GH, stressed the significance of peace as Ghana heads to the polls in less than two months.
“As we approach the elections, it is vital that we all commit to maintaining peace in our communities,” he said. He emphasized that violence and division have no place in Ghana’s democracy, urging all stakeholders to work together for a peaceful election.
As the night ended, the audience departed with a renewed sense of hope and a collective commitment to advocating for peace, not only during the election season but also beyond.
