The Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called for the immediate dismissal of the Director General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), accusing the Council of negligence over controversial content found in a teacher’s manual currently in use in schools.
Rev. Fordjour outlined three reasons for his call, accusing the Director General of failing in their duties, being complicit in what he described as an LGBT agenda, and misleading the public over claims that the material had been reviewed.
Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, he said NaCCA failed to properly review the manuals before they were printed, distributed, and used in classrooms.
He rejected the Council’s assertion that the content had been reviewed, insisting that the disputed definitions remain in the revised version of the manual.
According to him, any proper review should have taken place before nationwide distribution, not after the manuals had already been used in schools for weeks.
He argued that edits were only made after public concerns were raised.
Rev. Fordjour also expressed concern that the manuals are still in circulation and actively being used by teachers.
He questioned why NaCCA has not issued a clear directive to withdraw the manuals or guide teachers on how to handle the content already taught.
He further criticised NaCCA’s response as slow and poorly handled, describing its public statement as reactive and riddled with errors.
He added that the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has indicated it is unaware of any concrete steps taken by NaCCA to recall the manuals.
According to the Assin South MP, the continued use of the manuals in classrooms remains the most urgent issue, warning that teachers are still being compelled to teach content he considers harmful to students.
