NSA breaks silence over Vybz Kartel’s proposed Accra Sports Stadium concert

The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has confirmed that preliminary discussions have taken place with Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel regarding his interest in hosting a concert in Ghana.

Earlier today, Vybz Kartel officially submitted a request to the NSA to use the Accra Sports Stadium for a major event scheduled for December, which would mark his first-ever performance in Africa.

In a statement about the situation, the NSA Director General acknowledged that discussions have commenced but provided limited details at this time.

There has been engagement, and there has been contact ;  that’s all I can say for now.

Any engagement with an international act, or even a local one like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, King Promise, or churches hosting end-of-year conferences, involves proper coordination. It’s not just about the pitch, but the entire facility being used equitably.

Should the deal be finalised, the Accra Sports Stadium could witness one of the most high-profile music events of the year.
