Former Trades and Industry Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen says his supporters are always treated as outcasts in the New Patriotic Party(NPP).
According to him, despite his sacrifices for the NPP, there have been several attacks against him and his supporters nationwide.
At a press conference held in Accra on Monday, September 25, Mr Kyerematen said, “It is common knowledge that any party member who is associated directly or indirectly with Alan is treated with disdain and considered an outcast”.
“I have endured all this resentment and maintained my integrity within the party throughout the past fifteen years.”
Meanwhile, Alan Kyerematen has announced his decision to break away from the NPP and run as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections.
This follows the decision of the former minister to withdraw from the presidential race of the NPP.
This is the second time Mr. Kyerematen has quit from the NPP.
After losing in the 2007 presidential primary and what he subsequently described as being sidelined, Alan, in 2008, resigned from the NPP in a similar move but was politically coerced and later rejoined the party.
