NPP sets up election review committee to investigate 2024 election defeat

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to establish an election review committee in January 2025 to conduct a thorough post-mortem analysis of the party’s defeat in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The committee will engage with party stakeholders and the general public to identify the factors and circumstances that led to the party’s defeat.

The National Chairman of the NPP, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, announced this at a news conference today, December 23, at the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.

Reforms

“We have a firm belief that the work of the election review committee will enable our people to express their concerns and bring out suggestions and reforms necessary to restructure our party,”  Mr Ntim said.

He said the committee would also examine the need for constitutional amendments and restructuring the party’s internal decision-making processes, particularly in electing presidential, and parliamentary candidates, and party executives.

Mr Ntim acknowledged that this period was challenging for the party but expressed confidence in the NPP’s resilience.

“We must and we will rise again from this defeat. We will be reorganising ourselves for the battles of tomorrow,” he emphasised.

Mr Ntim urged party members to engage in the restructuring process with renewed energy, saying “We cannot give up. We must get the elephant trumpeting ahead.”
