The New Patriotic Party has announced that its national executive elections will be held from September 18 to 20, 2026, as part of its internal electoral calendar.
The timeline was outlined at a press conference on Wednesday, February 18, by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong. Nominations will open on August 10 and close on August 14, followed by the filing of nominations from August 15 to 17.
The vetting of aspirants is scheduled for August 20 to 23, with the vetting report presented on August 25.
Appeals will then be heard from August 28 to 29, completing the preparatory process for the elections.
“The national executive elections are as follows: The processes and procedures, opening and closing of nominations shall be from August 10 -14, filing of nominations shall be on August 15-17, vetting of aspirants August 20-23, reading of vetting report shall be on August 25, appeals shall be taken from August 28-29. The elections shall be held between September 18-20, 2026,” he announced.
Mr. Kodua Frimpong also disclosed that the tenure of office of some party officials will expire during the electoral period.
He said their mandates have been extended to cover polling station executives, constituency executives, branch executives, electoral area coordinators and regional executives to avoid disruptions to the process.
He explained that the extension is intended to ensure a smooth and orderly conduct of the party’s internal elections.
“This will help not to distort the elections,” he said.
