The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has presented a cash amount of GH¢100,000 to the traders affected by the Kumasi Kejetia Market fire outbreak.
The presentation was made by the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser of the NPP, Nana Ama Ampomah, and some party executives on Friday, April, 28.
This was in fulfillment of a promise made to the traders when a delegation led by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, visited the market on March 20, 2023, after the fire outbreak.
An inferno consumed parts of the Kejetia Market on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, destroying over 30 shops out of the facility’s 8,000 shops.
Presenting the money to the traders, Nana Ama Ampomah said the government through the Medium and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) and Ghana Enterprise Agency (YES) is working to aid the affected traders to return to business.
The Managing Director of the Market, Mr Edmund Kofi Duffour Addae, who received the money on behalf of the traders thanked the leaders of the party for fulfilling their promise.
This comes after the traders appealed to the NPP to fulfill the pledge they made to them.
