Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, has won the Okaikwei North parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She polled 314 against her closet contender, Akoto Alberta Afia Asomaniwa, who had 228.
The other contenders included Fuseini Issah, the former MP for the area who polled 114, Nyarko Stephen Adipa garnered 108 votes, Kenneth Kwabena Agyei Kuranchie polled 27 and Prince Owusu Mensah had six votes.
About 850 delegates voted in the Okaikwei North constituency.
Nana Ama Dokua opted to contest at Okaikwei North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region instead of Akuapem North following the decision of Sammy Awuku, a former National Organiser of the governing party, to annex the seat.
The Okaikwei North Parliamentary seat is currently held by Theresa Lardi Awuni, a member of the National Democratic Congress who defeated the then NPP incumbent Fuseini Issah to snatch the seat.
Many are wondering how Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, who hails from and lives in Akropong in the Akuapem North Constituency, plans to gain acceptance in Okaikwei North.
