New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer Hopeful Francis Addai-Nimoh has called on all delegates to rally behind him as he leads the party to victory come December 2024.

Francis Addai-Nimoh, an engineer by profession, believes the NPP requires a new face to be the leader in retaining power and breaking the eight.

Mr Addai-Nimoh said this when he officially announced his candidacy and campaign strategy ahead of the flagbearership race.

Although the former Member of Parliament for Mampong is convinced the NPP will retain power, he mentioned this victory is contingent on three main issues.

According to him, the new face must be a candidate who can ensure internal unity within the party, improve and consolidate the performance of the NPP-led government and allow all NPP delegates to assess each prospective aspirant to select the most suitable person to lead the party as its candidate.

“Given these three conditions, we have come to the conclusion that a roadblock will be inadvertently created for ourselves as a party if NPP delegates decide to choose a face that recognisably may be caught in the so-called fractured web.

“Will it not be best if we have a fresh new face? A face that nonetheless brings the needed experience and maturity with both the private and the public sectors while also beaming with hope and enthusiastic energy to serve the Ghanaian people.

“In my opinion, the prevailing circumstances of my party now require a new face as the next Presidential Candidate. And I say the new face to win the NPP 2023 Flagbearer contest is here,” he said amidst cheers.

Mr Addai-Nimoh further listed certain characteristics he believes are a must for the new face.

He considered being a natural unifier, having an unblemished character and bringing new energy and fresh appeal to harness the opportunities ahead to be the three most important qualities to look out for.

“My leadership is about uniting our amazing energies throughout the entire country. It is about bringing together all individual experiences and inspirations while also respecting the many differences in our party. We want to foster inclusivity, not divisiveness,” he added.

His campaign message is centred on four main issues — be a result-oriented unifier, ensure resources are distributed evenly and fairly, ensure party offices will be a permanent place for the party and establish viable economic ventures in every constituency.

Adding his voice, former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and founding member of the NPP, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, said Mr Addai-Nimoh is the only person who can unite the party.

“He is a man with enormous experience, peaceful and will not run this country down. This is the man the whole nation should follow,” he stressed.
