NPP likens NDC campaign to mosquito buzz

As campaigns intensify ahead of the December 7 general elections, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has likened the campaign of the opposition NDC to mosquito buzz.

In a statement signed by the NPP’s National Chairman, Freddie Blay, the party rubbished the NDC’s purported mission to rescue Ghana from them.

“It goes beyond the rhetoric of a perceived and so-called ‘rescue mission’ for SADA’s trapped guinea fowls in Burkina Faso.”

“The noisy propaganda of the opposition NDC has become that nuisance mosquito buzz around the ears of Ghanaians to distract all well-meaning citizens from the task of nation-building,” the NPP said.

The NPP further made a call on the middle income and educated elite within the electorate to vote for President Akufo-Addo on December 7, 2020.

According to the party, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Ghana’s economy, it will be unsafe to entrust the situation to a pair of rusty hands.

“Discerning Ghanaian electorates can appreciate that managing the impact of COVID-19 on the economy over the next 3 – 5 years would require more than a rusty and unsafe pair of hands,” it said in a statement.

“The Party is, therefore, extending an invitation to the discerning middle class and educated elites of our society, to deeply reflect on the prospects of our dear nation under the visionary leadership of H. E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

It added that “Mostly, this significant group of Ghanaian electorates who constitute a key component of the country’s majority economic activities, are usually not too eager to vote in elections. However, the consequences of sitting on the fence, unconcerned about casting your votes on December 7, would be a major setback for the nation”.

The statement, however, assured that the next Akufo-Addo government would do even better in ensuring “a promising and prosperous future”.
