Stop public discussions that create disaffection – NPP directs members
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed its members to refrain from discussing internal matters that could create unrest or disaffection within the party in the media.
In a statement issued by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party recognised the feelings of disappointment and emotional turmoil among its members following their recent electoral loss.
The leadership is urging everyone to maintain a sense of calm, emphasising the importance of unity as the party embarks on the path to recovery.
“As an officer of the party, mandated by the party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5) to coordinate the activities and operations of the party, please note that all party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” the statement read.
This directive comes in light of rising worries that public comments from some members could exacerbate divisions within the NPP.
The leadership has called for members to show restraint and to trust in internal mechanisms to resolve any grievances.
Additionally, the statement reminded members of their constitutional obligation under Article 3(5) of the NPP Constitution to protect and uphold the party’s reputation.
It also cautioned that any member who disregards this directive may face disciplinary action at the national, regional, or constituency levels.
Reaffirming its dedication to unity, the party has urged all members to cherish the values of the NPP and collaborate in strengthening the party for future elections.
“Let us uphold the values of the NPP and work together to rebuild a stronger party for the future,” the statement concluded.
