Chairman of the National Planning Committee for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Joseph Osei-Owusu, has confirmed that the party’s 2025 National Annual Delegates Conference will go ahead as scheduled on Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.
His statement comes in response to a formal petition from some party members requesting a change in the conference date.
While acknowledging the concerns raised, Mr. Osei-Owusu made it clear that the party’s National Council had thoroughly reviewed the petition and decided to uphold the original plan.
“There’s a petition that the date for the conference should be changed, but after considering it, the National Council concluded that, given the level of preparation and the commitments already made, the conference should proceed as scheduled,” he said.
Despite differing views within the party, leadership believes that sticking to the announced timeline is essential to maintaining momentum and honouring logistical and financial investments already in place.
