Nora Hauptle intensifies scouting ahead of WAFCON 2025

Coach of the Black Queens, Nora Hauptle has been on a tour of Europe scouting Ghanaian players ahead of next year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. 

Hauptle led the West Africans back to the tournament after qualifying for the WAFCON for the first time since 2018.

Over the weekend, the Swiss trainer was in France to watch Mia Irene Gyau in the French Arkema Premiere League match between Reims and Nantes. Hauptle is hoping to convince the grand-daughter of ex-Black Stars player George Gyau to represent the Black Queens.

The Black Queens coach also scouted Josephine Bonsu who plays for Carl Zeiss Jena in the German Women’s Bundesliga as well as Princess Owusu of Turkish club Ãœnye Kadin FK.

The move by Nora Hauptle is to build a strong team for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which has been rescheduled to next year during to organisation reasons.

The Black Queens’ last appearance at the tournament was on home soil and failed to progress to the second round.
