‘No Ewusi, No Vote in 2020’ – Central Regional NPP youth threaten

Some aggrieved NPP youth from the Central Region have threatened to boycott the 2020 general elections if the suspended 1st Regional Vice Chairman of the party, Ekow Ewusi, is not reinstated.

The group, ‘Coalition of Concerned Members of NPP’, says it suspects foul-play in the suspension of Mr. Ewusi as it sees the move as a plot by the party’s Regional Chairman, Robert Kutin Jnr and some party executives to disqualify Ewusi from any internal party contest.

Some members of the group on Thursday stormed the party’s headquarters in Accra to petition the leadership on the development.

Presenting the petition, Yusif Ali Maiga, Constituency Organizer for Agona West said Ekow Ewusi has been of tremendous help to the party unlike the Regional Chairman, Robert Kutin.

“We have not really benefitted from the party since it came into power but the mere sight of Ewusi gives us hope and assurance that everything will be fine so why sabotaged him, the man has single-handed provided laptops for all constituencies in the region and given some motor bikes, pick-ups to aid in their work’ he said.

According to him, Ekow Ewusi has been a great asset and contributed enormously to the region and the nation as a whole and therefore must be protected from people who feel threatened by his achievements and prospects in the party.

The youth urged the leadership of the party to reinstate the beleaguered 1st Vice Chairman as he holds the key to the party’s success in the Central Region or consider a no-vote in the region in the upcoming 2020 general elections.

Receiving the petition on behalf of the party’s leadership, National Treasurer, Kwabena Abankwa-Yeboah assured the youth their petition will be forwarded to the appropriate quarters and duly addressed.
