The National Labour Commission has summoned the staff of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) following demands for the removal of its Managing Director Osman Aludiba Ayuba.
It will be recalled that some aggrieved NEDCo staff petitioned the Minister for Energy Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh over the matter.
According to the staff, the financial performance of the energy distribution company has worsened since the MD’s assumption of office in 2019.
They accused Mr Ayuba of lacking a clear strategy for the company and also quoting an exorbitant contract sum for a sole source procurement of point-of-sale devices.
They believe the Managing Director has worsened the distribution losses of the company.
The group had initially petitioned the Board of Directors to remove Mr. Ayuba.
The Board’s failure to heed their demand led the staff to partially withdraw their services on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, until further notice.
All field services have since been suspended except for emergency and power vending situations.
In light of the latest development, the commission has scheduled Monday, February 20, 2023, to meet the affected parties, for a hearing of the issues in dispute.
