A Nigerian national is expected before a court in Nsawam today, June 24, to face the law for allegedly killing his son and secretly burying him at Kyekyewere in the Eastern Region.

He was arrested after his actions and has been in police custody.

The assembly member for the area, George Oboubi, said the suspect, Justice, also known as Oga is a hardware seller who lives with his wife, also a Nigerian and three children, in the community.

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, he severely beat his son, 10-year-old Wisdom, over his alleged refusal to follow his orders to stay indoors.

He reportedly carried the child in a taxi to the Nsawam Government Hospital after he sustained injuries.

However, the medical staff at the hospital declared the boy dead on arrival.

According to the assembly member, he later went to Justice to enquire about the condition of the child.

He claimed the boy had died of malaria and was in the mortuary.

Later, he changed his story, admitting that he had buried the child in a public cemetery.

The suspect’s change of story raised suspicion, prompting Mr Obuobi to report to the police.

Police investigation revealed that he had paid some workers at the Nsawam cemetery to bury the child without a coffin.

The police detained the suspect and later exhumed the body from the cemetery.

His wife has since fled from the town with her two children.
