Nico Williams makes debut appearance for Spain
Nico Williams made his Spain debut against Switzerland in the Uefa Nations League on Saturday evening.
Nico was introduced into the game in the 63rd minute to replace Pablo Sarabia.
He’s determined to make Spain squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
Williams first represented Spain with the under-18 squad in 2020, scoring two goals in four games. He was called up to the Spain under-19s in February 2021, and made his debut for the under-21s in September of the same year.
The 20-year-old has been in form this season for Bilbao in the La Liga. He has scored two goals and assisted one in six appearances.
He made his first team and La Liga debut on 28 April 2020, coming on as a second-half substitute for Jon Morcillo in a 2–2 home draw against Real Valladolid.
Elsewhere, Nico’s elder brother, Inaki Williams made his Ghana debut in their 3-0 defeat against Brazil on Friday.
The Ghana Football Association after managing to get Inaki Williams, pushed to secure Nico Williams but the youngster has opted for Spain.
