The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the extension of its premium registration services for the Ghana Card to five regional offices.
Starting from Monday, June 12, 2023, residents in the Volta, Bono, Bono East, Northern, and Western North regions will have the opportunity to utilize these services.
This development, outlined in a statement dated June 11, 2023, and signed by Col. Peter Kwame Ghansah (Rtd), the acting Head of Corporate Affairs at NIA, is aimed at complementing the existing Premium Centres at the NIA and CalBank Head Offices in Accra, as well as the Ashanti, Eastern, and Western Regional offices.
The NIA statement emphasized the availability of fee-based services at the newly established premium registration centers.
These services include first-time registration and issuance of the Ghana Card, priced at GH¢280.
Additionally, individuals seeking card replacements due to loss, damage, or misplacement will be charged GH¢110.
Furthermore, updating personal records that require the printing of a new card will also incur a fee of GH¢110.
Moreover, the NIA highlighted that certain update services will be subject to fees. These services include the change or correction of an applicant’s name, correction of the order of an applicant’s name, correction or addition of an applicant’s previous name or maiden name, correction of an applicant’s date of birth, change or correction of an applicant’s nationality, correction of an applicant’s gender, and change or correction of an applicant’s height.
To streamline the process, the NIA emphasized the utilization of an online booking system for premium services, alongside a walk-in system.
Payment for these services can be made via the CalBank Mobile Banking Platform using the short code *771#, CalBank Online Mobile App, or at any CalBank branch.
The NIA’s decision to expand premium registration services reflects its commitment to providing convenient and accessible avenues for individuals to obtain the Ghana Card.
The statement is also coming at a time when a significant number of SIM cards have been deactivated due to their failure to complete the mandatory registration process.
Most of them claim they are yet to receive their Ghana card, which is a mandatory requirement for the registration process.
