NHIS donates GH₵250,000 to support COVID-19 fight
The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has donated GH₵250,000 towards the government’s COVID-19 Trust Fund despite its high indebtedness to health service providers across the country.
The gesture is to support the government’s effort to lessen the effect of the spread of COVID-19 in Ghana.
Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby, led a team from the authority to present the cheque on behalf of the authority during a news briefing at the Ministry of Information, Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
The Deputy Minister of Information, Pious Enam Hadzide, received the cheque.
This donation comes a time when the NHIS is struggling to raise funds to settle over 10 months claims arrears owed NHIS service providers across the country.
Some Ghanaians took to social media to express their shock at the NHIS for its cheque donation of GH₵250,000 towards COVID-19.
