The National Health Insurance Authority has paid more than GH¢392 million to healthcare providers for services rendered under the National Health Insurance Scheme between December 2025 and January 2026.
The payments are part of the Authority’s efforts to ensure that providers receive timely reimbursement, allowing them to maintain uninterrupted healthcare services for NHIS members nationwide.
A statement from the Finance Directorate revealed that GH¢301,658,338.13 was paid in December, followed by GH¢90,373,513.13 in January, bringing the two-month total to GH¢392,031,851.26.
Most of the funds went to public and private health facilities, which together accounted for just over 80 % of the total. Mission hospitals received the remaining 19 %.
In figures, public facilities were paid GH¢157,164,301.62, private facilities GH¢158,630,317.29, and mission facilities GH¢76,237,232.35.
The Authority says this regular payment process ensures that healthcare workers are supported financially, helping facilities manage operational costs and provide essential care to the public.
By prioritising the timely release of funds, the NHIA aims to strengthen the healthcare system while reinforcing confidence in the NHIS among members and providers alike.
