Residents have been left in shock after they discovered the lifeless body of a newborn baby in a gutter at Adabraka.
The lifeless body of the premature baby was found around 6:30 am on Tuesday, March 14.
An eyewitness, Ama Asare, said that some students drew her attention to a strange object in the gutter, which turned out to be the dead baby.
“I suspect some ladies in this area might have done this. We are going to monitor them,” she said.
According to Graphic Online, the police were yet to retrieve the baby’s body as of the time of filing this report.
Residents have since pleaded with the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
This is not an isolated case. In December 2022, a two-month-old baby was found dead 13 feet down in a well by residents of Pumpside Numriso in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region.
The baby boy was found supine with his two hands up and a black thread around his neck while wearing diapers with beads on both legs and hands.
He was found floating on the water when some residents were about to fetch water for their household chores.
That same month, the lifeless body of a newborn baby was found on a public refuse site at Enyan-maim in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.
Also, sometime in May 2022, residents of Nungua in Accra woke up to a shocking view of a baby in a choked gutter.
Residents were heard in a video cursing and expressing disgust at the scene.
