Never Attack Any Competitor Who Insults Me- Bawumia Cautions Supporters
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged his supporters to desist from retaliating if his contenders insult him during campaigns for the flagbearer polls.
Dr Bawumia stressed that all the aspiring candidates for the flagbearship race belong to the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Therefore, there is no need to attack anyone who abuses him verbally.
“I have instructed all my supporters and spokespersons that we must conduct a clean campaign, avoiding any form of insults,” he stated.
He also mentioned that he can work with anyone from the party.
“I was raised by both President Kufuor and President Akufo-Addo so that I can work with the children of both leaders of our great party. I do not like divisions and segmentations in the NPP,” he stressed.
According to Dr Bawumia, immediately after the presidential primaries on November 4, 2023, the executives, including the party members, will need to be united to defeat the enemy, the National Democratic Congress(NDC), in the 2024 polls.
“We are one family, and we must remain united. Once the contest concludes, we will unite as a cohesive force to ensure the NDC does not return to power.”
So far, 10 candidates have been cleared by the party’s national executives to participate in the upcoming presidential primaries.
The other candidates are former Trade, Minister Alan Kyerematen; a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Joe Ghartey; a former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto; a former General Secretary of NPP, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong; MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong; a former MP for Offinso North, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku; a former Energy Minister, Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko; an energy expert, Kojo Opoku; and former MP for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimoh.
