The Nekotech Centre of Excellence has played an instrumental role in acquiring Ghanaian citizenship for prominent diasporans who trace their roots to Africa.

The latest move to boost tourism and anchor successful foreign celebrities to Ghana towards local development resulted in a new Ghanaian identity for global American gospel superstar Jonathan McReynolds.

McReynolds, who has five Grammy Award nominations in addition to his win in 2021, was one of 524 diaspora members to gain Ghanaian citizenship in a historic ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

This programme, the third of its kind under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration, celebrated the ties between Ghana and its global diaspora.

The initiative is part of a broader agenda that began with the ‘Year of Return’ in 2019, commemorating 400 years since the first enslaved Africans were transported to the Americas.

The expertise and impact of McReynolds are likely to reflect on the local gospel scene as the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) used the opportunity to grant the maestro a professional membership.

Former MUSIGA president Diana Hopeson read a citation that was presented by MUSIGA First Vice President Rev. Dr. Thomas Yawson to Jonathan McReynolds.

Jonathan McReynolds thanked MUSIGA for the honour and promised to assist in elevating Ghana music to the highest pinnacle.

Meanwhile, Co-Founder of Nekotech, H.E. Rev. Dr. A.K. Ocansey, who facilitated the process, was optimistic about the positive impact that the musician could add to Ghana’s image.

The Nekotech Centre is a 25-year-old multiple award-winning human capital development institution with a focus on STEM-AI-MBA as well as soft skills and spiritual development training hinged on integrity and leadership.

Nekotech was recently recognized by the US White House with a lifetime achievement award, which solidifies their impact in Ghana and abroad.

In collaboration with various international organisations, Nekotech is also facilitating opportunities and loans for over 1000 African students to study in their preferred universities in the US and Canada for master’s programmes.

Nekotech is rolling out various initiatives and humanitarian interventions to boost development, empower women and the youth, as well as raise leaders to lead the transformation of Africa in the coming years.
