Nduom reveals reasons for Elmina Sharks relegation battle
Elmina Sharks’ inability to see off teams in the lower half of the Ghana Premier League this season has been a contributing factor to the club’s relegation struggles, the founder of the club has indicated.
With just a couple of games to go, Elmina Sharks find themselves in 17th place and just above already-relegated side Inter Allies in the Ghana Premier League table.
They currently have 35 points and anything less than a win in their match week 33 fixture could confirm their relegation status.
Speaking in an interview with Ahomka FM in Cape Coast, the founder of the club, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom was clearly unhappy with the club’s inability to win games against lower oppositions.
He cited the losses against King Faisal who is also battling relegation at the Nduom Sports Stadium as baffling especially when they secured wins against the likes of Kotoko.
Sharks have recorded wins this season at home against Kotoko, WAFA and rivals Ebusua Dwarfs but were unable to replicate same results against King Faisal who defeated them 1-0
Paa Kwesi Nduom indicated: “Our current position on the league table is not as a result of our very recent results.
“What hurts me most is that the likes of King Faisal can come to our own stadium to defeat us. That is very hurtful.
“It is also painful to lose against the likes of Liberty Professionals and Inter Allies when Elmina Sharks are capable of defeating the likes of Kotoko…”
Elmina Sharks play Legon Cities and Kotoko in their last two fixtures of the season as they seek to pull off a miracle and survive for next season.
