Ndebugri calls for state protection for ex-Special Prosecutor
Former MP for Zebilla Constituency, John Akparibo Ndebugri, has expressed concerns about the security of former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.
According to him, the damning revelations in Mr. Amidu’s resignation letter puts his life at risk.
He has, therefore, asked for protection for the anti-corruption crusader and called for all to be worried about Mr. Amidu’s life.
“My concern now is the security of Martin Amidu because the revelations that he has made are very great, the president himself called him and tried to instruct him, to use him as a poodle to cover up his deeds”.
He insisted that Mr. Amidu’s security must be a priority to the cause of fighting corruption
“This is what we need to be concerned about and not the theories that the Office of Special Prosecutor is independent, does Martin have army or police, was he not to depend on the institutions of State?” he quizzed.
He attributed his resignation to the traumatic experiences he went through after releasing the findings of his corruption assessment report on the Agyapa Royalties deal.
According to him, he had received death threats after submitting a copy of the report which among other things described databank, an investment company owned by the Minister of Finance as a decoy for the Imara investment company, the transaction advisor for the Agyapa deal.
He accused the presidency of interference and an attempt to make him a poodle.
Mr. Amidu suggested that his life was under threat in his resignation letter.
“Fear is the enemy of change and I am prepared from the vacuum created on 12th November 2020 to meet the threats of my demise as the price to pay for serving my country without fear or favor affection or ill will”
“I acted professionally throughout in the discharge of my duties and my conscience is the anchor of my strength to face any consequences,” he wrote.
