NDC’s probity and accountability march dishonest – Bawumia
The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has described the NDC’s probity and accountability march as dishonest.
“…where was the probity and accountability when they were chopping the SADA money?” he said.
According to him, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) must march against the Airbus scandal and all the scandals that engulfed the erstwhile Mahama government if they (NDC) truly believe in probity and accountability.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on November 19, 2020, announced its decision to embark on a march in honor of its founder and late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
But addressing students at the Yendi Senior High School as part of a three-day tour of the Northern Region, Dr. Bawumia described the decision as hypocritical and smacks of dishonesty.
“Today after the death of the former President, may his soul rest in peace, Jerry John Rawlings, they (NDC) are now there saying that they are marching in his honor for probity and accountability. Where were the probity and accountability when they were chopping the SADA money, they should be marching for the SADA guinea fowls, not for probity and accountability”
“They should be marching for the bus branding scandal. They should be marching for the Airbus scandal. That is the probity and accountability Ghanaians want to see.” He noted.
The march, which has been scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 26, is to recognize the principles of probity and accountability that Mr. Rawlings stood for.
The party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia in a statement 0 noted that recent developments in the country seek to undermine the former statesman’s effort to uphold public accountability to citizens.
