Members of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Brigade clashed with police officers during a protest at the Finance Ministry on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

The demonstration was organized to demand accountability and the recovery of funds allegedly misappropriated in questionable transactions under the Akufo-Addo-led government.

The protesters cited several opaque deals, including the $34.9 million Ambulance Spare Parts contract, the GRA-SML deal, and expenditures related to the 2023 All-African Games, as key reasons for their action.

They insisted that these transactions lacked transparency and called for a thorough investigation to restore public confidence and ensure the proper use of public funds.

Tensions escalated as the group demanded full disclosure of the expenditures for the 2023 All-African Games, a major point of contention in their protest.

The situation turned chaotic, with clashes between the demonstrators and the police, although the exact cause of the confrontation remains unclear.

The NDC’s ORAL Brigade emphasized that their actions were driven by the need to hold the government accountable and to ensure that public resources are managed responsibly.

They vowed to continue pushing for transparency and justice in the handling of public funds.
