A National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communicator, Dela Edem Coffie, has been arrested.
This was after the NDC firebrand, accompanied by his lawyers, turned himself in around noon today, Monday, 6 June 2022.
It will be recalled that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) issued a warrant of arrest for the outspoken NDC member for some alleged corruption offences.
A statement from the office cited corruption, corruption-related offences, and forgery of documents, among others, as reasons for the warrant.
A pictorial representation of the wanted suspect was included in the notice to allow for easy identification and arrest.
He is said to have failed to honour an invitation by the OSP to help in investigations, hence the warrant.
Mr Coffie insists he is innocent of the said accusations.

Mr Coffie’s response
In a quick response on the day of the arrest warrant, Mr Coffie described the Special Prosecutor’s action as reckless and said he would submit himself to the processes.
“Preliminarily, I want to state that I am available right here in Ghana and will submit myself to any queries of law enforcement agencies as I have nothing to hide.
“As regards context, my understanding is that the Special Prosecutor is linking me to a petitioner, who has lodged a petition before his office against former Minister Atta Akyea.
“However, let me state that the recklessness with which the Special Prosecutor will jump to issue an arrest warrant without any recourse to me as rules of engagement injunct his office to do, will be subjected to appropriate judicial review,” he added in a social media post.
Mr Coffie said his legal team have taken the matter up and will deal with the issues head-on.
