Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has been re-elected as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ningo-Prampram constituency.

Sam George had 1036 votes to defeat his contender, Michael Kwettey Nettey.

The primaries were plagued with allegations of rigging from the camp of Mr Kwettey, forcing the polls to be briefly halted by the police.

Two people were arrested at the New Ningo D/A Basic School B polling station as they attempted to influence the voting process.

They were said to be engaging delegates to convince them to vote for their preferred candidate, resulting in uneasy calm.

One was said to support Sam George and the other a supporter of Michael Kwetey Tetteh.

Meanwhile, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle, Dr Zenator Rawlings, has also been re-elected to lead the NDC into the constituency’s 2024 elections.

She obtained 1194 votes out of the 1831 votes cast, accounting for more than 90% of the total votes polled.

Meredith Naa Odarkai Lamptey Addy and Nii John Alfonso Coleman, her main contenders, garnered 268 and 360 votes, respectively.

Nine votes were rejected.

Zanetor wrestled the seat from then-incumbent MP Nii Armah Ashitey after contesting in the party’s parliamentary primaries in 2015.

Meanwhile, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dr Dominic Akurintinga Ayine, has also been re-elected as the parliamentary candidate for the NDC.

Dr Dominic Akurintinga Ayine polled 292 votes, while his closest contender Dr Emmanuel Aberiinga had 121 votes.

In the Upper East Region, Mahama Ayariga has been re-elected with 863 votes in Bawku Central Constituency.

This means Mr Ayariga will lead the party for the fourth time in the 2024 general elections.

His contenders Ustarz Jibreal Sahad polled 283, while Theo Braimah Awanzam managed 96 votes, respectively.

In the Sekondi constituency, Nyamekye Armah Blay won the parliamentary contest with 502 votes while
Samuel Bissah had 307. Four votes were rejected.

In the Sekyere Afram Plains constituency, Kwabena Duffuor Junior polled 203 votes but lost out to Hajia Nasira Afrah, who polled 211 votes.
