Members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) today, Saturday, November 16, 2019, embarked on a nationwide weeding and clean-up exercise in a number of constituencies nationwide.
The exercise took place in some parts of Greater Accra, Bono and Northern region where a number of party members and sympathizers were in party T-shirts to rid the median of weeds.
This, they said is to bring the spirit of the National Sanitation Day which was introduced under the erstwhile Mahama administration.
The move is also in solidarity with the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama who had earlier been spotted in a viral video clearing overgrown weeds.
According to the flagbearer, the overgrown weeds obstructed the view of motorists, especially those using the roundabout hence the decision to clear the weeds.
The actions of the NDC flagbearer, however sparked alot of controversies among a section of the Ghanaian populace including Asempa FM Kanawu host, Nana Akua Acheampomaa Sarfo-Adu who vehemently condemned the action of the NDC Flagbearer on her show.
NDC leadership and its supporters were infuriated with Kanawu’s host utterances on her show and demanded for an apology from the host and management.
The party’s leaders then declared today, as a ‘weeding’ day in solidarity to their flagbearer.
