NDC killing: Ofosu Ampofo, Nketia must be interrogated – MP

The Member of Parliament for Subin Eugene Antwi – where the Ashanti Regional office of the NDC is located – has called for the interrogation of the chairman of the NDC Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and general secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia in connection with the shooting incident there.

One person lost his life with several others sustaining injuries when members of the pro-NDC vigilante group – The Hawks – clashed during a meeting of party executives at the office.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has declared four persons alleged to be members “The Hawks” wanted over the shooting incident on Monday, 18 February 2019.

The Police revealed that the suspects are Warrior, Damous, Migyima, and Abu Tariban.

The shooting incident happened during a meeting which was being chaired by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

Speaking to Starr News Wednesday Mr Antwi said the invitation by the Ashanti Regional Police Command of a former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin and a former Chief Executive for the Ejisu Juabeng Municipality, Afrifa Yamoah Ponko for questioning over the incident was in order.

But, he said, the police should go beyond them and invite for interrogation everyone available at the office during the incident including Ofosu Ampofo and Asiedu Nketia.

“I think everybody present apart from these high ranking officials are material witnesses. We are talking about murder, so as long as you are within the vicinity you must be invited to write a statement and tell the police and the country what you saw or what you heard.

“It’s very important. These are all clues that will lead to the arrest of the criminals,” he told Starr News Ibrahim Alhassan.

Asked specifically about inviting Ofosu Ampofo and Asiedu Nketia, he retorted: “They are all there. The gunshot was not too far away from them so they must be invited to write their statements and tell Ghana and more especially the bereaved family what exactly went on leading to the unfortunate incident.”
