NDC is governing with deception — Abena Osei Asare
Member of Parliament for Atiwa East, Abena Osei Asare, has expressed worry about the current government, claiming they are misleading the public.
She accused the John Dramani Mahama administration of attaining power through falsehoods, noting that it didn’t take long for Ghanaians to realise they had been deceived.
Speaking at the Akwatia constituency campaign launch on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Asare indicated that the importance of rallying support for the party is to regain the seat.
She stressed that doing so would bolster their representation in parliament and help uncover the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s deceptions.
“It’s been six months in office, and the people of Ghana have realised that the NDC deceived them. They are governing with deception, and we need to expose their lies. We can be better placed by winning the Akwatia seat to expose their deception. We don’t want our number to reduce from 88 so please go out and vote for the NPP,” she said at the campaign launch.

She continued, “people are here who didn’t vote in the 2024 elections because they were angry; there are people who didn’t vote because they are at loggerheads with someone, but I plead with you guys to go out and vote. Let’s take everyone along so that we can win the seat because Ghanaians have hope in us and believe that we can better their lot”.
Additionally, the former Minister of State highlighted that a victory for the New Patriotic Party in Akwatia would be a tribute to the late Ernest Kumi, who worked hard to reclaim the seat for the NPP.
“Let’s vote for Asumadu to honour Ernest Kumi. He did so well and was growing in Parliament before his demise. It was refreshing to listen to him speak in Parliament, so if we don’t have anything to honour him, let’s honour him with our votes,” she appealed.
