NDC Is Ghana’s Only Hope Now– Mahama Brags
Former President John Dramani Mahama is urging Ghanaians not to give up in this era he claims the country is facing an economic and hardship crisis since the NDC is the only party that can rescue the country for a brighter future.
According to him, the opposition National Democratic Congress is the only development-oriented party in Ghana that ensures all-round development of the country whenever it is in power.
Mr Mahama said these when he was speaking at the Apostolic Continuation Church, Techiman, in the Bono Region as part of his Building Ghana Tour, on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
Mr Mahama also blamed the Akufo-Addo-led administration for the current retrogression and hardships in the nation.
He further indicated that the NDC does not promise what it cannot deliver unlike the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) which he said promises things that cannot be fulfilled.
“We are not like them, we don’t promise when we know we can’t deliver, we don’t just promise we keep them, NDC is the only development-oriented party.”
The NDC flagbearer, last week, began a tour dubbed ‘’The Building Ghana Tour’’ in the Bono Region, to engage Ghanaians and revitalize the NDC in readiness for the 2024 presidential campaign.
Speaking before the congregation, he further noted that “People thought there was development and prosperity here, and now we have lost everything. The nation is pitiful, the country is facing hardships, and the economy is bad.”
“I thought they would continue the good work I left behind, but the nation seems to be retrogressing in development,” Mahama complained.
Mr. Mahama reminisced when Ghana held the title of the black star of Africa after being the first African country to gain independence and urged the youth to stay hopeful in the promise of a better Ghana, as the NDC is the best bet for better development and growth.
“One thing has become resoundingly clear, and it is that our country is not on the right path. We are clearly headed for a major ditch if immediate action is not taken to reverse the trend. I also asked, after listening to many of the people who spoke in these interactions, what we can do collectively to address the excruciating hardship and suffering confronting many a Ghanaian’’ Mahama lamented.
“The problems of our country are legion and hydra-headed. As I distilled from my interactions with the people of Ghana on this tour, the most pressing problem is the impact of the ailing economy on livelihoods, prospects, and dreams”, he said.
