Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, Kofi Adams, has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is comfortable with their position on the ballot paper.

This comes after the Electoral Commission(EC) on Friday, September 20, conducted the balloting for the 13 presidential candidates cleared to contest the December 7 election.

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) picked the number one slot while its main contender, the NDC picked number 8.

According to Mr Adams, the NDC is more focused on ensuring transparency in the electoral process.

“The NDC is very comfortable with the position we find ourselves in. All of us seated here will agree, if there is ever any number in the last two years that has seen a lot of mention by any manner of persons it is number 8.”

“It is either someone is saying I want to break the eight or others are saying, what are you breaking the eight for? For this useless performance that you want to continue or what?,” he said on Joy News.

He added that the prominence of the number 8 has led to heightened public awareness.

“The media is carrying it. The chiefs, pastors, Imams are all talking about it. If there was ever any number that a lot of time and resources have been spent on it, it is number eight. When anyone picks the ballot paper, they will be attracted to number eight.

“We are so comfortable with the position God has given us in this ballot. We are not worried at all,” he said.

Aside from the two major political parties, the All People’s Congress (APC) candidate, Hassan Abdulai Ayariga, secured the 9th spot.

Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) picked number 5, and Nana Akosua Frimpomaa of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) took the 7th position.

Independent candidates for the forthcoming presidential election on December 7, 2024, were also given their places on the ballot paper after the Electoral Commission (EC) balloting process on September 20, 2024.

The independent candidate Kofi Koranteng secured the 10th position, while George Twum Barima will appear in the 11th spot. The Movement for Change will be listed last at number 13, while the New Force Movement, led by Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), has been placed in the 12th position.

The forthcoming election will be a vibrant contest as both political parties and independent candidates compete for the presidency as these independent candidates take on the nine eligible political parties.
