The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has filed a court injunction to suspend the re-collation of parliamentary results for the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency.

This legal action follows growing tensions and allegations of irregularities in the parliamentary election results in the aforementioned constituency in the Eastern Region.

The injunction was filed to stop the Electoral Commission’s ongoing process at the Tesano Police Training School to resolve the contentious collation, which has sparked debates between the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The incumbent NPP MP, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, and his closest contender, the NDC’s Philibert Amenorpe Fummey, are both claiming victory in the polls.

According to Mr Annoh-Dompreh, he won the election with a difference of 210 votes, citing the provisional results from the Electoral Commission (EC).

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, the EC instructed a re-collation of results from four constituencies in the Eastern Region, which are Suhum, Nsawam, Fanteakwa North, and Akwatia.

The disagreement from both parties dragged the collation process to a second day.

At the collation today, the NDC raised concerns about discrepancies in the Electoral Commission’s original pink sheets, leading to the filing of the court injunction.
