NDC engineered Kpandai rerun – Nyindam

The former Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of engineering the upcoming election rerun, insisting that the 2024 polls were free and fair.

Speaking in an interview, he argued that the High Court decision that ordered the rerun was unfounded.

“I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that nothing went wrong during the election. We have appealed the ruling at the Court of Appeal, yet they are not even allowing me to challenge the decision,” he said.

Mr. Nyindam expressed frustration that the seat was declared vacant too early, explaining that some election-related cases are still before the Supreme Court and are scheduled for hearing on December 16 and 18, 2025.

“Then the Electoral Commission comes out with a date for a rerun. You can see this was planned. It is all part of a plan,” he added, directly accusing the NDC of influencing the process.

Despite his concerns, Mr. Nyindam said he remains confident in the support of his constituents and is prepared to contest the rerun.

“I am not worried. I am waiting for the 30th. The people of Kpandai who voted for me in 2024 still believe I can represent them,” he stated.

The Electoral Commission has set Tuesday, December 30, 2025, for the rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election.

This follows a ruling by the Tamale High Court on Monday, November 24, 2025, which directed that the rerun be held within thirty days.

The Commission also confirmed receiving official notice from the Clerk of Parliament on Monday, December 8, 2025, stating that the Kpandai parliamentary seat is now vacant.
